Don't Judge a Book by Its Gift Shop
Currently reading: Empire State by Adam Christopher on page 28.
Our recent trip to New York City left me in awe. I was incredibly impressed with the Empire State Building. And while in their gift shop I saw this novel, Empire State by Adam Christopher.
I don't know what I was hoping for as a book about a building does not exactly exude story. Turns out to be some kind of crazy 20's almost steampunk superhero book. And I am only a few pages in, but it just doesn't feel like what I hoped for.
Again, I don't know what it is I hoped for, but it isn't this. I guess this is a lesson for judging books by their cover. Or their subject or their selling location. It may be a great book, but I have to give it a chance to be what it is and not a re-experience of that building.
